Gabions are boxes of different sizes – usually 1.00 – 2.00 m wide and 0.50 – 1.50 m tall, made of hexagonal double twisted steel wire. We use their dimensions, length x width x height, to actually specify them. Inside the gabions there are partitions (transverse diaphragms) that help the box retain its shape and avoid deformation during installation process. The edges of the gabion are reinforced with wire of larger diameter than that of the mesh. They have countless uses, such as river bank and other works reinforcement, transverse roads construction and wall retaining, while they easily integrate into the landscape.
