STAINLESS STEEL C RINGS ATTACHMENT

The c-rings can be used as an extra part for the attachment and installation of the panels of gabions. The distance between the rings during all phases of attachment and installation should be from 10cm to 15cm so that they can withstand forces of 17.5kN/m according to the  ASTM A 975-97 specifications. For your own convenience, you can also find among our products special pneumatic and hand pistols for the lacing of gabions and wire mesh. In this way you can replace the traditional wire lacing methods when speedy installation is required and reduce labour cost.

Hot-dip galvanized C rings (ASTM A 641-92) and GALFAN rings (ASTM B 341) with 3mm diameter, according to ELOT ΕΝ 10218-2, which are placed on the ends of the reinforced wire, are also available. The mechanical properties of the rings conform to  ASTM A 764-95 with tensile strength 1586 - 1882N/mm(MPa) as specified by ASTM E8/MPT 2004. The rings come in packs of 40 pieces and are available in cardboard boxes of 1600 pieces.

After the assembly, the gabions are installed in their final position, as determined by the technical report, and are bound together across and at the top ends of the overlapping sides.

The already bound gabions are laced at the touching corners. Good lacing is essential for the stability of the retaining wall. When more than one layers are required, then the empty gabions placed on top should be laced to the top of the lower layer along the face and back of the overlapping surfaces.

Then the gabions are carefully filled with stones of the size that meets the specifications. During the filling of the gabions the edges should remain in a straight line by using iron rods, supporting the edges and tensing the respective faces to avoid face bulging. The rods are removed after the filling of the gabion is complete. In addition, helicoils are used to attach the opposite side panels of the gabions to make sure that the shape of the gabions does not change.

Finally, special braces are attached at the1/3 of the gabion side, from bottom to top, to stabilize the vertical sides and avoid face bulging. The helicoils are used at the diagonal edges to retain the right shape of the corners of the gabion. In gabions with a face taller than 1m coils are placed in two rows whereas in gabions with a face up to 0.50m in one row.

After filling is complete, the lid is laced down at the edges with the help of levers. The lacing is done so that each gabion is a stable cube and the whole construction is a sturdy unit.

In a similar way sack gabions and terramesh gabions are assembled, installed and filled. After terramesh gsbions are filled the appropriate binding material is applied and thickened.
