The mats are made of 6X8 hexagonal double-braided steel wire mesh and usually have the form of a parallelepiped of various dimensions with a width of 2.00m and a height of 0.17m – 0.50m. They are similar constructions to wire boxes, but lighter and more flexible. They are applied to slope linings, to protect the foot of slopes and roof layers, in generally milder flow conditions.
